Welcome to the Forums!All of the Myst 10th Anniversary DVD Edition games (MME, Riven, Exile) can be played with no problems on Vista, but sometimes you have to work for itAs in - no pain, no gain!In general,- a. Install MME to your C: drive.- 1. If you have a very small C: that's reserved for system files only, install MME to D.- 2. Do NOT install the game to an external drive, either USB or E-SATA.- b. Start MME from a fresh boot.- 1.
Reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open applications.- 2. Disable all anti-virus/spyware/adware/pop-up programs running in the background.- 3. If you have only a software firewall (ZoneAlarm, for example), do NOT disable it!- 4. Do NOT run any other programs before starting MME.- c. Do NOT boot up with a CD or DVD in any drive.- d. If the MME disc autostarts when you insert it into the drive, cancel back to the Desktop.- e. Start the game using the MME icon on the Desktop, NOT the menu item on the MME disc.Suggestions, to do in the order shown:Anything that's underlined is a link to another Internet page.

Browse to the folder to which you saved mystmaster2ke.exe, and double-click on the file to put it on the Open: box.- e. Click on OK, then click on Next Next.- f. Click on the '.' (3 dots in a box) and browse to C:Program FilesUbi SoftMyst Masterpiece Edition.- g. Click on C:Program FilesUbi SoftMyst Masterpiece Edition to put it in the box, then click on OK.- h. Click on Next Start to apply the patch.
You should see 'myst.exe: successfully applied'.- i. Click on Next Exit.- j. Right-click on the Myst start icon, and click on Properties in the resulting drop-down menu.- k.
Click on the Compatibility tab, then click on the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' box to put a check in it.- l. Click on the down arrow at the right end of the selection box, and click on Windows 2000 to put it in the box.- m. Click on Apply OK.- n. Start MME as per 'in general' steps b through e, above.2. Run MME as an Administrator.- a. Viridian city. Click on Start, then type Myst Masterpiece Edition in the Start Search box.- b.
In the Programs list, right-click on the MME listing, and click on Run as administrator.- c. If you're asked for a password or for confirmation, type in your password or click on Continue.- d. Close back to the Desktop, and start MME as per 'in general' steps b through e, above.3. With 'run as administrator' enabled for MME, disable the Desktop Window Manager (Aero Glass) when you play MME.- a.
Click on Start, then type Myst Masterpiece Edition in the Start Search box.- b. In the Programs list, right-click on the MME listing, and click on Properties.- c. On the Compatibility tab, click on the Disable desktop composition check box to select it.- d. Close back to the Desktop, and start MME as per 'in general' steps b through e, above.This disables Aero Glass only when you play MME, and Aero Glass is re-enabled when you close MME.4. With 'run as administrator' enabled for MME and Aero Glass disabled as above, run MME in Compatibility Mode.- a.
Click on Start, then type Myst Masterpiece Edition in the Start Search box.- b. In the Programs list, right-click on the MME listing, and click on Properties.- c.
On the Compatibility tab, click on the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box to select it.- d. Select an operating system, and click on OK.- e. Close back to the Desktop, and start MME as per 'in general' steps b through e, above.You may need to try all of the listed operating systems to find a successful setting. Compatibility Mode stays active for MME until you unselect the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box.5. If none of the above help, re-install MME from a clean boot.- a. Reboot, log into Windows with full Administrator privileges, and close all open programs.- b.
